gearing up for Sommeil

i wanted to write an update on the progress of the sleep concert. i have finally downloaded all the material that i will use for the concert. i have decided to use at least one piece for each person who submitted at some point during the event. your submission might get used during the day, or it might get used at night. maybe both, just depends, i will be improvising for the night part of the event. the list of people is long and pretty unbelievable.
when i first posted the call for submissions i should have been a little more specific about things like id3 tags and how to title your submission ect. that is my fault. i received everything from full CC released albums to single tracks titled track 01. i have done my best to keep track of every track, who did what and so on and so forth.
what i have decided to do is this. at some point before the concert, i am going to send a list of names to all of the submitters, make sure your name is on the list and make sure i have spelled it correctly ect. i won’t be able to list all of the track names as i have nearly 80 people in total who have submitted. i will only list the names of people who have submitted. i think this is the fairest and most clear way to go since in some cases tracks were not named and in some cases they were.
when the release comes out, i will try to be more specific about track names ect. if anyone has an objection to this please let me know asap.
here is where i stand in terms of the concert. so far everything is going according to plan. there have currently been no major hickups other than a few personal bumps along the road that have lead to a few sleepless nights. every time i have a large event i always go a little nuts, but since my audience is mostly artists, i am sure many of you can relate.
it is interesting to try to make so many pieces of audio fit into a single sonic space. it has been a challenging process for me to find the right set of processors to combine all of the different submissions and to make them sound as if they were all coming from a similar space. i want the piece to ebb and flow in a dream like manner and to sort of emanate from a soft glow, as if the sleep sound dreams of 80 artists were submerged in an ocean of sonic light.
as i get a better and better handle on how the actual music will go, i will keep everyone informed. i also wanted to let everyone know that at least two internet radio stations will be broadcasting the event in may. more details on those broadcasts to follow soon. and am happy to announce that myself, chika, jeremy bible + jason henry will be taking the sleep concert on the road to the ingenuity festival in cleveland. as that unfolds i will keep everyone informed. thanks for the patience guys.
