Transcriptions of Dreams – c.i.t.i.o.n. aka josh carro – new ambient artist on the scene
misound review
new project launched
josh carro aka c.i.t.i.o.n. is a great friend of mine that i met in 2005 while i was working as an artist in residence at arizona state. there josh was a percussion student and aspiring composer. josh introduced himself to me at a party and asked if i would be willing to teach him composition lessons. at the time since i needed friends more than money, i told josh that if he would hang out with me we could talk music and see where it went. over the next two years in phoenix josh became a great friend and grew as a composer. the truth is, he didn’t need a teacher, he just needed to keep composing and developing as an artist. i am really proud to share his album ‘transcriptions of dreams’ with you. josh created this album by combining his mastery of percussion with simple effects and processing. in a recent conversation he divulged that these pieces are a gateway into his subconscious.
josh writes:
Each of these pieces are in fact soundtracks to the reoccurring dreams that have captivated my being for as long as i can remember. This album is the most important and most personal work that i have ever produced for the fact that these two realities have crossed and now exist both in the dream world and the world that we call reality. i will admit, it was extremely difficult to make this album. (Both production and personal) These six simple works were very carefullysifted from a collection of about forty short works.
Although all of these works were just as beautiful as the final six, i didn’t feel that it would be right unless i put the tracks that meant the most to me and also felt that these works had the capability to take the listener to a certain place. Maybe at a later time if need be, i will release more of these works on compilations or even start a library of these “dream” albums but for now, i need some time to forget some of these fantasies. Psychologically, over this period i was listening to these works for over seven hours a day. They kept me in this “dream world” and i started to break apart. In a way,
loosing my mind in fact to the point where i couldn’t even reply to people or calculate simple problems like choosing a t-shirt to wear, conversing with people, and being so
disturbed that i had to leave an establishment without saying goodbye to the group.
take the time to listen to this new album and if you like it spread it around the net. if you are a label owner, take a minute to consider releasing it on your cd or net label. josh has been making some great work so get to know him via his various portals on the net.

I find c.i.t.i.o.n’s “Transcription of Dreams” to be an elegant blend of behavioral and reflective design complemented with emotion and visceral performance. Beautiful.
