Sommeil: A Concert for Sleep, Contributors List

click on image to download a pdf of the press release
after nearly two months of downloading, listening and deep tissue networking i have finally put together a list of all the wonderful people who have contributed to Sommeil: A Concert for Sleep. i have decided to publish this list ahead of the concert so that all of the people who so graciously submitted material would have time to send this list around before the actual event.
i would like to thank each and everyone of the contributors for sending in audio. i am sure to play at least one track by each person during the day before the concert, and i will be randomly choosing files and remixing in real time during the course of the night portion of the event. for clarity, read the concert press release available above for full details.
if you have contributed and your name is not on this list please contact me at barely.audible@gmail.com and i will solve the problem immediately.
i ask that each of the artists who has contributed to please include their bio and a link to their website in the comments section of this post and to please pass on this list to everyone that they feel would benefit from seeing it. below is a screen shot i took this morning which shows just how far our remix of robert rich’s sleep concert #meme has spread through out the world. if you want to know more about whats happening with these artists and sleep concerts you can use the lijit search engine on the sidebar for all sorts of nifty searching about these subjects.

In 2008, he was awarded a Film & Media grant by the New York State Council on the Arts for “No Other Time”, full-length intermedia performance designed for a large reverberant space, combining live analog electronics with four-channel playback, and high-definition computer-animated film projection.

First of all, I’d like to thank Tanner for including my piece (Tanner Sommeil) for the show @ Antenna. Since I’m already living in New Orleans (well, Metairie…), I can’t wait to thank him in person! I’m also glad he’s supporting Creative Commons in such an upfront way. All the music I’ve made is free to anyone who’d like it. (MySpace used to let you download tracks for free, but that option seems to be gone. I’d be glad to send anyone who wants some of it for free – or I’ll post a link to it @ MegaUpload or RapidShare).
Hello All.
Many thanks and mad props to Tanner for assembling this wonderful project, I can only hope the best for the future of this great endeavor.
Counterspark is the solo project of Johnny Utterback of Richmond, Virginia. A visual artist by trade, Johnny began experimenting in sound in 2006. From that point on, Counterspark has been a project of experimentation in the world electronic music. Rich textures and lush soundscapes with an underlying tone of optimism are all intertwined into the melancholy compositions that are Counterspark.

I hope everyone is well, and unfortunately I will not be able to make the event, but I am sure it will be a fantastic night.
Best to all.

Hello Tanner,
I hope you’re well.
I’m glad to contribute to this magical project !
and I wish people a good night !
I introduce myself:
[...] Syn- (prefix, from the greek: to gather) is a french artist: guitar and bass guitar player and an electronic composer.
The global project is gathering the different forms of arts.
Syn-’s universe refers essentially to the nature facing the machine. He works in a permanent process of research dealing about the mixing of music with litterature, dance, theatre, visual arts or the video (40 projects the last 10 years).
The compositions by Syn- sometimes break out violently in tribal and post-indus universe and expect also a carefully and beautiful attention to this scripted, orchestrated, hypnotic and beautiful music, called ambient music from the listener. Lively and organic, they start resonating sounds with natural origins (recording of voices, sounds..) and artificial origins (numerical sounds) and in their turn throw auditory images.
His musical conception is more sensual and intuitive than mental.
Co-fonder of the independent label Prasca http://prasca.org , oriented towards music coming from the post-rock movement: post-indus, ambient and experimental productions.
He occasionally works for companies and artists: Julie Jegrand, Krzysztof Wodiczko, Ann Hamilton, Rhys Chatham, Von Magnet… He’s currently playing in Aube L’s band (Paris)
The soundscapes, Tanner has selected, come from his instrumental “matières premières”(raw materials) album which was nominated Qwartz [Research] 2005 to the Qwartz Electronic Music Awards and from the last release intitled “Manolo on Juliet” (2008) [...]
Enjoy !!!
Thank again !
All the best
SYN-
